If you're always noticing problems as a direct result of
updates, or you have a good reason to use a device
unpatched, depending on your edition of Windows 10, you
can stop automatic updates using the Windows Services or
using Group Policy
In this article, I will be showing you two
methods/options to disable automatic updates in Windows
10.
Option 1 :
Using Services
-
Using the Win+R
keyboard shortcut to open Run,
inside Run type services.msc
to access your PC’s service settings.

From
he list of services, double click on
Windows Update

Set the
Startup type to Disabled, and
click the Stop button, then click
Apply and OK

Option 2 :
using Group Policy
-
Using the Win+R keyboard shortcut to open Run,
inside Run type gpedit.msc
-
Navigate to the
following path:
Computer Configuration >
Administrative Templates > Windows
Components > Windows Update
Double-click the Configure
Automatic Updates policy on the
right side.

Check the
Disabled option to turn off the
policy and disable automatic updates
permanently. Then click OK
